The sofa sits on carpet, a rug or a wood floor, and the dust in the room comes partly from the vents.
The carpet under a sofa collects the same crumbs, pet hair and dust as the cushions. For carpet cleaning, the same truck-mounted hot water extraction that does the sofa goes over the floor, pulling out what sits under the surface, and it includes free pre-spotting. Wood floors around furniture get scuffed and dulled by grit and old polish.
