At Kelly Cleaning, the work we are known for does not happen because of fancy equipment or a clever schedule. It happens because of people. Real people who show up, care about the details, and treat every home and business like it matters. This post started as a simple employee of the month spotlight. We want to keep that spotlight, and we also want to open the door a little wider so you can see the kind of team and culture that stands behind our name.
A Spotlight That Says a Lot About Us
Back in December 2020, we named Alma our employee of the month. Here is what we said at the time, and every word still holds true.
Alma has been with Kelly Cleaning for 18 years, and we could not be more thankful for everything she does. Alma is our bookkeeper, so she manages the payroll and billing for both our cleaners and our customers. On top of that, she is the encyclopedia of the company. People often go to her for answers because she knows the ins and outs of everything we do.
Outside of work, Alma is a mother of three, a soccer mom, and an organ donor. She is an all around great person to be around. We would be lost without her. Thank you for your hard work, Alma.
We are sharing this again for a reason. When a company takes the time to stop and say thank you in public, it tells you something about how that company thinks. It tells you the people are seen. It tells you that loyalty runs both ways.
What Employee Recognition Really Means
Naming an employee of the month is a small act. But small acts, repeated over time, are how a healthy culture is built. Here is what recognition means to us.
- It says we notice the quiet work. A lot of great cleaning and support happens where no one is watching. Recognition brings that work into the light.
- It says we value the long haul. Someone who stays 18 years is not just doing a job. They are part of the family.
- It says we care about the whole person. Alma is a bookkeeper at work and a soccer mom at home. Both matter to us.
- It sets a standard. When the team sees good work honored, everyone knows what good work looks like.
How We Take Care of Our People
You cannot ask a team to take care of your home or business unless you first take care of the team. That belief shapes how we run Kelly Cleaning every day. The points below reflect our general company approach.
- We hire for character first. Skills can be taught. Showing up on time, being honest, and caring about a job well done are harder to teach, so we look for those from the start.
- We keep people for the long term. Long tenure is one of the clearest signs of a good workplace, and we are proud that people stay with us for many years.
- We support the office and the field. Our cleaners in the field and our support staff in the office both make the work possible. Payroll, billing, and scheduling matter just as much as the mop and the truck.
- We treat questions as normal. When someone new needs help, they can ask. Having a go to person like Alma means no one has to guess.
How We Train and Set the Standard
Good cleaning is a craft, and craft takes training. New team members do not learn by being handed a bucket and pointed at a room. They learn the Kelly Cleaning way, step by step. Our general training approach looks like this.
- Learn the safe way first. We cover product handling, safety, and how to protect a client’s floors, surfaces, and belongings before anything else.
- Pair up with experienced staff. New hires work alongside people who know the routines, so they build good habits from day one.
- Follow a clear checklist. Consistency comes from a repeatable process, not from memory alone. A checklist means the same care every visit.
- Ask for feedback and give it. We would rather catch a small issue early than let it grow. Open feedback keeps the standard high.
This is the same care we bring to every kind of work we do, from a single carpet to a full commercial building. If you want to see the range, you can explore our full list of cleaning services and get a feel for what we handle across the region.
The Work Our Team Makes Possible
The culture we have described is not just a nice idea. It shows up in the results our clients see. Because our people are trained, trusted, and here for the long term, we can take on a wide range of jobs and hold a steady standard across all of them.
- Businesses that need a reliable partner lean on our janitorial services, where the same crews learn a building and keep it consistent over time.
- Offices, schools, and medical spaces count on our commercial cleaning teams to show up on schedule and treat each site with care.
- Homes and businesses right here in Ventura know they are hiring neighbors who take pride in the community they clean.
Behind every one of those jobs is a person like Alma. Maybe you never meet the bookkeeper who makes sure the billing is right, or the trainer who taught a new cleaner how to protect your hardwood. But you feel the result. You feel it when the invoice is clear, when the crew is on time, and when the space is done right.
Why Culture Is Our Real Advantage
Plenty of companies can buy the same tools. What they cannot copy is a team that has learned to trust each other and take pride in the work. That is the quiet advantage a strong culture gives. It is why our clients come back, and it is why our people stay.
- Trust between team members means fewer mistakes and smoother days.
- Pride in the work means the details get done even when no one is checking.
- Longevity means the person cleaning your space this year may know it well next year too.
When you invite a cleaning company into your home or business, you are really inviting its culture. We think ours is worth being proud of, and Alma is a perfect example of why.
A Thank You, and an Invitation
To Alma and to everyone on our team, thank you. The care you bring is the whole reason Kelly Cleaning is what it is.
