Floor Cleaning in Ojai - Restoring Hardwood Floors

In the middle of August, our Kelly Technicians provided a maintenance service on hardwood floors, Brazilian Walnut, for a school cafeteria eating hall. This eating hall was used every day during the school year and the floors had started to show signs of wear from all of the heavy foot traffic, sliding of chairs, and of course the abnormal environmental dust that we are used to in Ojai.

Luckily, our technicians were able to bring back some much needed glow that the floors deserved. By using our in-house hardwood floor cleaning solution, Shillelagh Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner, our technicians were able to complete this 3500+ square foot floor in only one day!

Shillelagh is definitely a mouthful, but it is pronounced shuh-lay-luh. But just to give a small history on the shillelagh, it is a knobby walking stick as well as a gentleman’s weapon to “settle” disputes or arguments. We use our Shillelagh cleaning solution to “settle” the dispute that Kelly has against dirty floors that need restoration.

The helpful tip this month is in regards to solution dwell time or pretreating. There are many names that this step of the cleaning process is called, but in essence it is the time elapsed after applying a cleaning chemical or solution on a surface.

This step is often overlooked when using a cleaner as most individuals often don’t read the instructions on simple products such as bathroom cleaners or sanitizing solutions. This is mainly due to advertisements that show the spray & wipe method, but in actuality the solution was sprayed and left for a certain amount of time before being wiped.

So, the next time you are cleaning or disinfecting a surface, check to see if your product requires dwell time or is recommended that you pretreat the surface for an extended amount of time. For instance, if you are going to remove soap scum or water deposits off stainless steel appliances and sinks, we recommend you use a 20 second dwell time with Kelly’s own O’brite Tile Cleaner to easily clean your surface.

Cleaning Solution Spotlight

For this month’s Cleaning Solution Spotlight, we would like to showcase our in-house tile and porcelain cleaner – O’brite Tile Cleaner!
